The Cabin

A large portion of the information contained in this Sketch of the
History of the Bashore Clan is due to the efforts of Dr.Simon Bashore.

      It is evident to any individual of ordinary intelligence that the task of tracing the history of a family tree from the root to the topmost branch, or vice versa, if you will, from the topmost branch down to the tap root, is one requiring deep concentration of thought, diligent research, untiring patience and undaunted perseverance.

       In a work of this nature, the historian will be confronted with conflicting data, legendary stories, diverse opinions and various broken 
thread, whose tangled ends must be unraveled and joined together so that
at its best a family history consists somewhat of a fabulous nature, but
then; what history ever written does not to a greater or less degree have 
a strong fabulous flavor? Modern scholars and even some prominent theologians of the present day do not hesitate to question the accuracy of the Bible history itself and even cast a doubt on its claim of inspiration. 

      With this slight diversion and brief introductory, we put these matters aside and pass on to the events of upwards of two centuries ago which brought the progenitors of the Bashore clan to the then proverbial New World, the Continent of America, at that time, a colony of England.
